Our Commitment to Heritage Projects

The St John Street scheme in central Manchester blends modern urban living with historical preservation. The project involves the construction of a new two-storey dwelling at the rear of the site, alongside the conversion of a Grade II listed building back into two residential units, with a new rear extension. The project also focuses on preserving the building's historic features, with careful restoration and adaptive reuse of key architectural details.

Sustainability is a key priority, with energy-efficient systems including air source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels, as well as a green roof to promote biodiversity and mitigate stormwater runoff. The scheme complies with modern accessibility standards and sustainability regulations, aiming to enhance the character of the Conservation Area while meeting the needs of modern living. The project demonstrates a commitment to high-quality, heritage-sensitive development that integrates environmental responsibility with social inclusion.

we made a difference in the project...

Enabl was appointed to provide a comprehensive range of services for the project, including strategic planning advice to guide the development process. This involved the instruction and management of a supporting co-consultant team, ensuring seamless collaboration across all disciplines. Our team played an integral role in the design development process, contributing valuable input to refine and enhance the proposal. Additionally, we managed the pre-application process with the local authority, working closely with the case officer and conservation officer to address key planning considerations. The team was responsible for the preparation and submission of the planning application, as well as the accompanying Planning Statement. Enabl also managed the application throughout the determination process, ensuring a smooth and efficient progression to approval.
