Enabl are currently appointed on the project at Weaste Reservoir to provide planning support for the proposed development of 39 dwellings including a mix of apartments and townhouses, on the site of a disused reservoir located along Liverpool Road in Salford.
Enabl, alongside Project 3, were responsible for providing the initial scope across the site and inputted into the design and layout of the scheme in order to provide a contemporary response to the local vernacular.
Further to this Enabl were responsible for advising and actioning the procurement of co-consultants, on behalf of the client, in order to provide a comprehensive set of surveys and reports to respond to the constraints of the site, as well as support the formal planning application submission.
The Enabl team are excited to see how this scheme progresses given its potential to provide a significant amount of affordable housing in a desirable and sustainable location close to Manchester City Centre.
The drainage challenges and solutions
Plans for the former Weaste Reservoir will deliver much-needed affordable housing while prioritising sustainability and flood resilience. A carefully designed drainage strategy will manage rainwater through sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS), including permeable paving, attenuation tanks, and controlled discharge to existing watercourses. These measures will limit runoff to pre-development rates, protect water quality, and allow for rainwater reuse. Foul water will connect safely to the public sewer network. The scheme not only makes creative use of underused land but also integrates long-term environmental stewardship into the heart of the development.
